Project history: Ex-Italian submarines of Flutto class (1st group), scuttled by own crews 9.9.1943 and salvaged by Germans. All were sunk by British aircraft. UIT15 and UIT16 were sunk by British bombers 6.9.1944 at Genoa, UIT19 was sunk by British bomers 9.1.1944 at Pola and UIT20 4.9.1944 at Genoa.
