Project history: Former French submarines of Aurore class, captured incomplete 13.6.1940 by German troops; completion under German standards of UF2 begun 31.10.1940. Exact data of conversion is not known: most likely, trainable TT was not installed, and German origin gun was installed. 5.5.1941 she was renamed UF2 and commissioned by Kriegsmarine 5.11.1942. Sister-ships L`Africaine and L`Astree received German numbers UF1 and UF3, but never commissioned and completed after war for French Navy.

Modernizations: 1943-1944, presumably: - FuMB 1 Metox ECM suite; + FuMB 3 Bali, FuMB 6 Palau ECM suites

Naval service: UF2 was stricken 5.7.1944 and in 1945, presumably, scuttled at Gotenhafen.
