Project history: UB II type coastal submarines of single hull construction with saddle tanks. They had a diving time which varied from 45 seconds in the Blohm & Voss boats to 30 seconds in the UB24-UB29 group.

Modernizations: 1916, all survived: carried 6 torpedoes.

1916, UB21, 22, 27, 34, 35, 41: + 2 - 500 TT (stern, 2), bow TTs were converted for minelaying (14 P mines).
