Project history: War order M. Double-hulled. They had a diving time of 30 seconds. Big Ms type boats built in groups of 4. Larger submarines U213-218 (KW Danzig), U219-224 (Weser, Bremen) and U225-228 (Blohm & Voss, Hamburg) of War Order AE were cancelled before building was started. The had to have that data: (1335-1400/1830-1900t, 88.1-87.6x7.9x4.0m, 4400/1690hp, 18/9kts, 12000(8)/90(4.5)nm, 217t of diesel oil, 1 x 1 - 149/42 TK L/45 C/16, 6 - 500 TT (4 bow, 2 stern, 16) on U213 - 218 or 8 - 500 TT (4 bow, 4 stern, 20) on U219-228, complement 46)

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: All boats were 80-90% completed at the end of the war; U 135 sank on the way to the breakers in England, U 136.became a French war reparation and was scrapped in Cherbourg, 1921; all the others were broken Up in Germany, the diesels being used for merchant ships.
