Project history:  Hansa and Niobe were designed in 1955-56 as coast guard boats of the Types 361 and 360, differed in the propulsion arrangement: Hansa had one shaft, Niobe two.  These wooden boats were the first to use non-magnetic materials. In 1968 they were reclassified as riverine minesweepers Types 392 and 391, their pennant number changing from 'W' to 'M' prefix.

Modernizations: 1969: - minesweeping gear; + diving equipment

Naval service: No significant events.
