Project history: The wooden-hulled coast guard boats were designed in 1958-59 as 'KW 55-1', using mainly non-magnetic material in view of the successful outcome with Hansa and Niobe. All units were commissioned with the pennant prefix 'W' and belonged to the Type 362.

Prom 1968 they were reclassified as riverine minesweepers of the Type 393 and pennant prefix was changed to 'M'. The eight units were built in two pgroups which differed from each other in the shape of the main frame.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
