Project history: Former USN LSM1 class medium landing ships, commissioned by Bundesmarine as Type 550. Krokodil was designed as a command and hospital craft and therefore received a helicopter platform over the stern and a new hinged bow-ramp while the folding doors were removed.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
