Project history: These multi-purpose landing craft ot the type MZL 63, being an improved version of the US LCU1640 class, were ordered in 1964 and belong to the Type 520. Shortage of crews and changing concepts meant that most of them were transferred to the reserve immediately after delivery, laid up and cocooned. With the exception of Renke and SaJm all were finally commissioned in 1973.

All were designed to carry minerails for the transport and laying of mines. Stem and stern were designed in such a manner that the boats could form a chain, so as to produce a massive floating bridge.

Modernizations: 1970s, all: - 2 x 1 - 20/70; + 2 x 1 - 20/70 S-20; bridge was enclosed

Naval service: From 5 August 1974 W 9 September 1992, Inger served as training boat for the Seamen Training Group.
