Project history: Former Canadian armed trawlers of Castle class, sold to merchant shipowners after WWI. French merchantmen Joselle, Marie-Anne and Gironde I and minesweepers AD149 Marie Thérèse II, AD164 Galopin and AD110 Marie Simone were captured by German troops in France in 1940. Polish merchantman Korab IV was captured by German troops at La Rochelle in 1940. Norwegian auxiliary patrol Scorpion was captured in 1940 at Tromsö. Belgian merchantman Jacqueline was captured in 1940 at Ostend. Belgian merchantman Freddy was sunk 21.5.1940 by German aircraft at Ostend, later salvaged and commissioned by Kriegsmarine.

Naval service: M4202 was scuttled by own crew in September, 1944 at French coast. M4204 was sunk by Allied aircraft at La Pallice 12.8.1944. M4403 was scuttled 23.8.1944 at coast of France. M3830 was sunk by Allied aircraft 6.9.1943 at Bayonne but later salvaged and commissioned again. M3230 was mined 9.10.1944 off den Hoofden. V729 was sunk by British light cruiser Mauritius 23.8.1944 off Audierne. M4405 was bombed by Allied aircraft 7.3.1944 off La Pallice.
