Project history: Former Italian torpedo boat (old destroyer) Generale Achille Papa, captured by German troops at Genoa 9.9.1943 and commissioned by Kriegsmarine 17.10.1943 as torpedo boat TA7, but 18.10.1943 reclassified to fast escort SG20.
Modernizations: some days after commissioning ship was armed with 3 x 1 - 102/45 S-A M1917, 3 x 1 - 37/54 M1939, 6 x 1 - 20/70 Oerlikon Mk II/IV, 1 x 2 - 20/65 M1935, 8 x 1 - 20/65 M1939, 6 DCT, but was soon rearmed.
Naval service: SG20 was damaged 1.11.1943 by a mine and later foundered near pier because hull leaks, during repair 6.1.1944 wreck was destroyed by American aircraft at Genoa, salvaged but 25.4.1945 scuttled at Ostia as breakwater.
