Project history: British 'Hunt' Type 2 class escort destroyer. She was purchased in 1957, renamed and designated Type 138.
Modernizations: 1959: - 1 x 2 - 102/45, 1 x 4 - 40/39, 2 x 1 - 20/70; + 2 x 1 - 40/60 Mk 7
3/1964, new armament and sensors consisted of: 1 x 1 - 100/55 Mle 1953, 1 x 2 - 40/70 Breda-Bofors 106, 2 x 1 - 40/70 Breda-Bofors 107, DA02, M40 radars; bridge, mast, funnel were rebuilt
Naval service: Gneisenau served as gunnery TS.
