Naval service: Z37 was damaged 30.1.1944 as result of collision with Z32 in bay of Biscay, stricken 20.8.1944, 24.8.1944 blown up at Bordeaux. Z32 was lost 9.6.1944 in battle against British destroyers Tartar, Ashanti and Canadians Haida and Huron at Ushant. Z34 was damaged 15.4.1945 by Soviet MTBs TK-131, TK-141 in the Danziger Bight, never repaired and after war scuttled by Allies in Skagerrack. Z31 was damaged 28.1.1945 in battle against British light cruisers Mauritius and Diadem at Bergen; on reparations transferred to the UK and in 1946 transferred to France as Marceau. On reparations Z33 was transferred to the USSR as Provorny. Z38 was transferred to the UK as Nonsuch. Z39 was transferred to the USA as DD939 and in 1947 sold on spare parts to France.
