Project history: With this enlarged version of the Jagd, the aviso was developing into a light cruiser. This 1893 design had a 25-20mm armoured deck and a very pronounced ram bow. She was considered a good seaboat, and served for two years abroad, as well as with the home fleet.
Ship protection: There was protective deck with 30mm flat and 25mm slopes, engine glacis had 100mm armour on 180mm wooden backing. CT had 30mm sides.
Modernizations: 1905: boilers were replaced by 8 Marine, funnel was replaced by two; - 2 x 1 - 88/27, 2 x 1 - 450 TT; + 2 - 450 TT (beam)
Naval service: From 1910 she was used as a fleet tender. In 1914 she was used for patrol duty, and was torpedoed by the British submarine E9 in the North Sea 13.9.1914.
