Project history: The Lürssen-designed 'Schnellboot 60', now Type 142, was a modified version of the Type 140/141. They differed from the foregoing classes in having additional superstructure aft of the bridge, which was tested earlier in Geier, a more streamlined bridge and masts of a different shape. A further ten projected boats were not built.
Modernizations: 1971, Wiesel, Dachs, Hermelin, Puma, Frettchen, Ozelot; 1972, Zobel, Nerz, Gepard, Hyäne: - 4 - 533 TT, Decca 1226 radar; + 2 - 533 TT (for Seal wire-guided torpedoes), Kelvin Hughes 14/9, 2x M20 radars (213/219t, 38.5kts max)
Naval service: After service under German flag some boats were transferred to Turkey but no one was commissioned by Turkish navy.
