Project history: Barges of MZ type (F701-800) were built under German design by Italian shipbuilders with Italian engines and armament; 24 units were captured in September, 1943 and commissioned by Kriegsmarine.

Modernizations: Some boats were rearmed.

Naval service: In operations 17 barges of MZ type were lost. Fate of some craft is unknown.
