Project history: Authorised under the 1906 programme, this single-hulled submarine was designed by Radiguer and was similar to the Émeraude design. Trials took place between March 1910 and November 1912; she attained a high submerged speed at that time. However, all but two of her buoyancy tanks were moved forward to improve sea-keeping.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Mariotte sank in the Dardanelles 27.7.1915 after having been caught in Turkish net defences and fired on.
