Project history: Twin-hull submersibles, designed by Laubeuf. They were essentially experimental boats and were based on the Triton class. Aigrette's diving time was 4 minutes.
Eleven other boats of Aigrette class were planned to be built in Toulon (Eider, Macreuse, Crèbe, Cygne, Marabout and Héron) and in Cherbourg (Pluvier, Pingouin, Pélican, Plongeon and Vanneau), but were cancelled in September 1902.
