Project history: In 1952 the USA agreed to transfer fifteen new ocean minesweeperû of the Agile class to the Marine Nationale under MDAP. They had wooden hulls and diesels of non-magnetic stainless steel alloy. Autun, Baccarat, Berlaimont, Colmar, Narvik, Origny and Ouistreham had taller funnels than the other ships.
Modernizations: 1976, Cantho; 1977, Dompaire; 1978, Mytho, Vinh Long; 1979, Garigliano, as minehunters: new block bridge structure; - minesweeping gear; + PAP-104 minehunting vehicle
1978-1982, Ouistreham, Alençon, Berneval, Berlaimont, Baccarat, as minehunters: + DUBM-41 sonar
Naval service: No significant events.
