Project history: Close to the previous class. Incomplete Ch16 was scuttled at Lorient 18.6.1940. Incomplete Ch17-21 received German names RA6, 7, 1, 2 and 8 respectively.
Modernizations: 1942, FNFL ships: - 2 x 1 - 8.80; + 1 x 1 - 40/39 QF Mk VIII, 1 x 2 - 12.7/62, 2 x 2 - 7.7/87 (20 DC at all).
Naval service: Ch9 21.5.1940 off Dunkirk was damaged by German aircraft and ran aground. Ch5, 8, 10-13 and 15 were captured by British 3.7.1940. All were subsequently transferred to FNFL. Ch5 was lost 21.12.1943 in La Manche during a storm. Ch6 and Ch7 were sunk 11.11.1940 in La Manche by German torpedo boats. According to some information, they were crewed by Polish seamen. Ch8 was sunk 13.7.1942 by German aircraft in La Manche. Ch11 and Ch15 served since 19.7.1940 till 6.2.1941 under Polish flag.
