Project history: Ordered 11.3.1903 from Bréguet (hull subcontracted to Chantiers de la Gironde), to test the only other French turbine design available. No 294 proved to be not only slower than 293 (achieving a trial speed of 25.14kts) but without a cruising turbine was also less economical.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: She was stricken in 1910, but survived at the engineering school at Brest until 1914.
