Project history: Ordered 16.7.1877, 18.11.1878 and 10.2.1879. Nos 24 and 25 were the first 27-metre boats completed, and on trials were considered particularly successful, making 18.03kts and 18.27kts respectively.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: No 45 was lost in a storm in Mar 1885 and 46 foundered while under tow a month later. Designated second class TBs in 1883, the surviving boats were stricken between 1903 and 1908.
