Project history: One of three designs for very fast TBs authorised in April 1891. The last TB built in the Paris area (at the old Claparède yard) was an unmitigated failure - her maximum trial speed was only 24.23kts, her manoeuvring and seakeeping abilities were very poor, and the enormous consumption of fuel made nonsense of her 'haute mer' designation. She was reclassified as a 'torpilleur de défense mobile' in 1897.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
