Project history: The undoubted 'star' of the three high-speed designs, Chevalier made 27.6kts on trials (at that time the world record) with remarkably little vibration. Furthermore, she was a good seaboat and well-built, and retained her speed longer than most of her contemporaries.
Modernizations: 1904: boilers were replaced by 2 new du Temple.
Naval service: She served actively as a patrol craft throughout World War I.
