Naval service: Superbe was lost off Brest 30.1.1795. Généreux was captured 18.2.1800 by British ships S of Sicily and commissioned by them under the same name. Fougueux was captured by boarding by British at Trafalgar 21.10.1805 but abandoned by them in the storm and went ashore 28.10.1805 on the Santi Petri reefs E of Cadiz. Timoléon was fired by crew at the Battle of the Nile (Aboukir) 2.8.1798 to avoid capture by British. Tricolore, Thémistocles and Duguay-Trouin handed over to Anglo-Spanish forces at Toulon in August 1793 and fired during the evacuation 18.12.1793. Patriote handed over to Anglo-Spanish forces at Toulon in August 1793 but returned to France in September, hard damaged by high winds 19.8.1806 off E US coast. Phocion handed over to Spanish at Trinidad 11.1.1793 by pro-Royalist crew and next year entered the Spanish Navy. Léopard grounded 17.2.1793 off Cagliari and fired by crew two days later to avoid capture by British. Entreprenant was captured by British and Spanish troops at Toulon in August 1793 but returned to France next month. Jean Bart wrecked 26.2.1809 on the Palles rock near Île d'Aix, wreck was taken by British and fired by them in April that year. Desaix wrecked 15.2.1802 on the reefs of Cape Français (Santo Domingo), wreck was destroyed by British. Droits de L'Homme wrecked off Audierne after combat against HMS Indefatigable and Amazon 13.1.1797. Brave was captured by British at Santo Domingo 6.2.1806 and foundered off Azores in April en route to Britain. Hercule was captured by Royal Navy 20.4.1798 and commissioned by them under the same name. Argonaute was in bad condition after Trafalgar and was ceded to Spain at Cadiz 18.12.1806 (used as prison hulk). Impétueux and America were captured by RN ships at Battle of Glorious First of June 1.6.1794 and commissioned by RN as Impetueux and America. Apollon was taken by British and Spanish forces at Toulon in August 1793 but restored to Revolutionary forces next month. Aquilon was captured by British ships at the Battle of the Nile (Aboukir) and commissioned by RN as Aboukir. Mont Blanc was captured by British ships off Cape Ortegal 4.11.1805 after Trafalgar and commissioned by RN under the same name. Formidable was captured by HMS Barfleur in action off Ile Groix 22.6.1795 and commissioned by RN as Belleisle. Vengeur grounded off Ajaccio 12.12.1792, abandoned and fired 8.6.1793. Redoutable was captured by British ships 21.10.1805 at Trafalgar and sank under tow in the storm 22.10.1805. Aquilon grounded 11.4.1809 on the Palles rock after attack of RN fireship and destroyed by British 14.4.1809. Tigre was captured by RN ships in the action of Ile Groix 22.6.1795. Scipion with Freench Royalist crew handed over to British and Spanish forces at Toulon 29.8.1793 and accidentally burnt at Livorno 20.11.1793. Pompée was captured by British and Spanish forces at Toulon 29.8.1793 and commissioned by RN under the same name. Duquesne was captured by British ships off Santo Domingo 25.7.1803 and commissioned by the RN under the same name. Barra was captured by HMS Robust off Lough Swilly 12.10.1798 and became RN Donegal. Tonnerre grounded near Île Madame during Britsh fireship attack at Île d'Aix 12.4.1809 and fired by crew. Jupiter was captured by British ships 6.2.1806 at Santo Domingo and became HMS Maida. Quatorze Juillet accidentally burnt at Lorient 29.4.1798. Diomède ran aground at Santo Domingo 6.2.1806 to avoid capture by British and fired by them 9.2.1806. Scipion was captured by British ship off Cape Ortegal 4.11.1805 after Trafalgar and commissioned by RN under the same name. Impétueux was dismasted in a violent storm 19.8.1806, drifted until 10.9.1806, chased by British ships at the mouth of the Chesapeake, ran ashore 14.9.1806 at Cape Henry, surrendered and burnt by British. Régulus was fire by crew 7.4.1814 in the Gironde to avoid capture by British forces. D'Hautpoul was captured by British ships 17.4.1809 off Puerto Rico and became HMS Abercrombie. Marengo was captured by British ships 13.3.1806 off Cape Verde Islands and entered RN under the same name. Spartiate was captured by HMS Theseus and Vanguard 2.8.1798 at Aboukir and commissioned by RN under the same name. Duguay-Trouin was captured by British ships off Cape Ortegal 4.11.1805 after Trafalgar and commissioned by RN as Implacable. Aigle was captured by British ships 21.10.1805 at Trafalgar but wrecked 22.10.1805 off Puerto Santa Maria near Cadiz in the storm. Héros surrendered 14.6.1808 at Cadiz to Spanish insurgents and became Spanish Heroe. Lion grouned near Sète 26.10.1809 and burnt be crew to avoid capture by British ships. Achille caught fire and exploded at Trafalgar 21.10.1805. Golymin wrecked at the rock in the Goulet near Brest and sank there 23.3.1814. Superbe wrecked 15.12.1833 on Island Paros (Greece). Capri and Gioacchino handed over to British 28.4.1815, taken by them to Malta and transferred next year to Neapolitans, becoming Capri and San Fernando.
