Project history: Design was developed on base of construction of WWI-time submarine of UB III type. They were projected by German designers and built in Finland. In the early thirties under secret agreement between Governments of Finland and Germany these boats were used for training of German submariners. Saddle-tank hulls.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: On conditions of Paris peace treaty of 1947 it was forbidden for Finland to have submarines, and all three boats of given class were stricken and broken up in 1953.
