Project history: This submarine was built in Finland under German order (under confidential agreement between Governments of these countries) bypassing the Versailles Treaty. She was used for training of German submariners till January, 1936 when she was redeemed by Finland and commissioned as Vesikko. She was designed by German designers on the basis of WWI-time submarine of UB II type. Actually she was a prototype for German submarine of II series.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: According to Parisian peace treaty in 1947 she was stricken, but never broken up, and in 1962 converted to a monument on Island Suomenlinna nearby to Helsinki.
