Project history: First warship designed and built in Ireland. Intended to be a prototype for a number of fishery protection vessels, but bad seakeeping was found during trials, and subsequent vessels were built under modified design.
Modernizations: 1994: - 2x Racal Decca radars; + 2 x 1 - 12.7/90, Decca 1226, Kelvin-Hughes Mk VI radars
