Project history: Former Chilean Leander class frigates, retired from Chilean service in 2007 and transferred to Ecuador in 2008. Phalanx was removed prior the transfer but soon installed again, there are fitting for 3 twin Simbad SAMs (36 Mistral missiles) but really SAMs are not installed.

Modernizations: 2016, both: - Bell 206 helicopter; + SH-2G Super SeaSprite helicopter

Naval service: No significant events.
