Project history: Ordered in 1978, modified Wadi M'ragh built for Libya. Very powerful and useful units well armed against surface and aerial threats.

Modernizations: 2000s, all: - Decca TM1226 radar; + Furuno 2115 radar

2008, Esmeraldas; 2018, Los Rios: - IPN10 CCS; + new Israeli-made CCS

Naval service: El Oro was badly damaged by fire 18.4.1985 and returned to service only two years later.
