Project history: Former Norwegian Type 207 submarines, purchased in 1986, refitted, re-motorized, lengthened by 1.6m and modernized before re-commission under Danish flag.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Sælen sank 3.12.1990 ubder tow without crew, raised 17.12.1990 and returned to service in September 1993.
