Project history: First two ordered 1960, remainder 1962. Of a special NATO design, 'Scandinavian' type of minelayer, Fyen also acted as a training ship for midshipmen, and Sjælland as a depot ship for submarines and torpedo-boats.

Modernizations: 1986, all: + 2 x 2 - 20/70 Mk 24

1993-94, all: - 1 x 2 - 76/50 (aft), NWS-1 radar; + Terma Pilot radar, Cutlass B-1 ECM suite

Naval service: No significant events.
