Project history: Design was developed by Danish Admiralty on a basis of drawings of Normand licence-built torpedo boat Ormen. By the moment of creation design has become outdated, but thanks to low-level building cost series appeared large and included 10 ships.
In 1928-1929 six ships were converted to minesweepers and received minesweeping equipment instead of deck TTs.
Modernizations: 1928-1929, Springeren, Støren, Søløven, Søhunden, Havhesten, Narhvalen: - 1 x 1 - 450 TT; + mechanical minesweeping gear
Naval service: Springeren foundered 18.6.1940, salvaged, repaired and commissioned again 21.4.1943. Havørnen, Makrelen, Nordkaperen and Sælen were scuttled by crews in Copenhagen 29.8.1943 to avoid capture by Germans. Havkatten in August, 1943 was interned in Sweden, in 1945 she was returned to Denmark and stricken in 1948. Narhvalen, Hajen and Springeren in August 1943 were captured by Germany, in 1945 they were returned to Denmark and stricken in 1946-1949.
