Project history: Built in Japan and assembled from sections by Kiangnan in Shanghai. Low-board ships, able to serve in coastal waters and on the rivers.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Kiang Heng in 1919 passed to Sungari and 31.10.1929 was sunk in Fujin by Soviet seaplane during the conflict on Chinese Eastern Railroad. She was salvaged by Chineses, then was captured by Japanese, but was never repaired and broken up in 1935. Kiang Yuan in autumn of 1938 was damaged on Yangtze and disarmed with her artillery landed, but repaired in 1942. Since 1949 she served under PRC flag under former name till 1963. Kiang Chen 27.10.1938 was damaged by Japanese aircraft on Yangtze off Hankow (Wuhan); 12.11.1938 scuttled at Hankow. Kiang Li 25.12.1937 was scuttled at Tsingtao.
