Project history: A 400t destroyer, which was to be armed with 2-12pdr, 4-12pdr, 2-18in TT, was ordered in 1911 from Ansaldo, Sestri Ponente. She, named Ching Po, was taken over with China's agreement by the Italian Navy at the outbreak of the war with Turkey in 1911 and completed as Ascaro. Three more 500t, 30kt destroyers were to be built by Ansaldo in 1914, but due to World War I none was laid down.
