Project history: Three small cruisers ordered in September 1913 that were to be built in 22-26 months from start of construction. Their armament was to be supplied by Škoda. All three were begun by early 1915, seized on the stocks by the Italians, recaptured intact in October 1917 by Austro-Hungarian forces, but there is no surviving evidence of Austrian intentions concerning these ships.

Ship protection: Ships were protected by only main deck with slopes, covered machinery, and gunshields.
