Project history: Steel-hulled, barque-rigged cruisers, built for the Nanyang fleet. They had a ram bow, a raised forecastle and poop, and two funnels. The 209mm BL guns were mounted in sponsons ahead of the funnel, and the 120mm BL were mounted on the forecastle and poop, on the broadside amidships, and in sponsons at the break of the poop.
