Project history: Ordered in 1955. Ships had air-conditioned quarters for entire crew. The Vickers designed main armament was unique with 11400m max range and 75° max elevation. Like many Chilean warships, they were camouflaged.

Modernizations: 1964, both: - 2 x 1 - 40/70; + 2 x 4 Seacat GWS20 SAM (16 Seacat), 2x M4 radars

(1971-1974, Swan Hunter), Almirante Williams; (1973-1975, Swan Hunter), Almirante Riveros: - 1 x 5 - 533 TT; + 4 x 1 Exocet MM38 SSM (4 MM38), SNW-10, Decca 1629 radars

1980, both: - 2 x 1 Exocet MM38 SSM
