Project history: Practically sister-ship of Brazilian cruiser Almirante Barroso, Ministro Zenteno had uniform calibre 152mm guns instead of mixed 152mm and 120mm. Typical "Elswick" cruiser designed by P. Watts.

Ship protection: Complete protective deck was 32mm at flat part and had 89mm slopes abreast machinery.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
