Project history: "Flower" with considerably increased fuel stowage. They were built in Britain and Canada and differed only by boilers: British-built ships had traditional fire-tube but Canadian-built ships had water-tube ones.

27 corvettes were built for RCN (under 1942-1943 and 1943-1944 programs, the order for 6 ships had cancelled) and, besides, 15 corvettes were built by British request for transfer to the USA by "reverse" lend-lease. By the moment of their availability USN did not feel any more lack in the escorts and have accepted only 8 corvettes (classified as gunboats), remaining ships have returned to RN (besides in lend-lease frameworks, this time direct).

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Trentonian 22.2.1945 was sunk by German submarine U1004. Merrittonia was lost as a result of navigating accident 30.11.1945.
