Project history: Ordered in 1968 as a revised design on the same hull as the cancelled general-purpose frigates of 1963. The design allowed for two big helicopters (CHSS-2) to enhance their ASW capabilities, and they were among the best equipped escorts in the world.
Modernizations: 10.1991, Algonquin; 5.1992, Iroquois; 8.1994, Athabaskan; 11.1994, Huron: as TRUMP conversion with the data as given in the table.
