Project history: Fleet tugs classified by Brazil as patrol ships. Imperial Marinheiro served as submarine tender and all were equipped for fire fighting. Pennant nos between V 15 and V 24. Extant 1995.

Modernizations: 2008, Caboclo: diesels were replaced by 2 Volvo Penta D49A-MS (2400hp, 15kts); - Decca radar; + Furuno M1831, Furuno FR-1505 radars

Naval service: Forte de Coimbra stranded on Baixinha Reefs off Natal 12.11.1996 and was subsequently stricken.
