Project history: An armoured coast defence torpedo boat built as a speculation and named Destroyer. this vessel was purchased by Brazil and renamed Piratini in October 1891. She had an inclined breastwork across the deck to deflect projectiles, and was intended to have her freeboard reduced by flooding to make her less vulnerable in action. Her main armament was the unsuccessful Howell flywheel torpedo. She was of little practical use.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: No significant events.
