Project history: This flush-decked barque-rigged vessel had two funnels and was wood-sheathed. Four 152mm Armstrong QF guns were in casemates on the upper deck and the other six were on the broadside on the main deck, as were the two 120mm Armstrong QFs.

Ship protection: Machinery was protected by 40mm deck, artillery had 76mm protection.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: No significant events.
