Project history: Built under special project for Brazil, Constant officially was registered as training ship, but had strong armament for her time and can be considered as cruiser. At the same time slow speed and weak protection sharply reduced her battle qualities. Ship has 3-mast barque rig. Ship was originally armed with 152/32 Armstrong M and 120/32 Armstrong M BL guns but was rearmed by QF guns when she laid at Toulon waiting an end of mutiny in Brazil.
Ship protection: Ship was protected by 51mm deck.
