Project history: Belgian contribution to the 'Tripartite' minehunter programme. Hulls were built at Ostend in a purpose-built 'ship factory' and then towed to Béliard at Rupelmonde for fitting-out. The ship's company varies from 23 to 46 according to task, six divers are carried when minehunting. A portable decompression chamber van can be carried in 01 deck abaft the forecastle break. When ships are deployed in dangerous areas they carry also two 12.7mm/90 MGs.
