Project history: Modified Austrian license-built variant of the German UB II type. Ordered on 12 October 1915, they were built at the Pola N Yd, except U29-32 which were built by Danubius, Fiume.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: All saw active service in the latter part of the war; U30 was lost by unknown cause in the Otranto Straits 1-2.4.1917; U31 was allocated to France in 1920 and scrapped, while all the others were allocated to Italy; U27 was scrapped at Fiume, and all the others at Venice.
