Project history: A modified version of British Sir Bedivere class LSLs, but rated as an amphibious heavy lift ship. She can operate Wessex (later Sea King) helicopters, can carry pontoons and has a powerful heavy lift system: 2 4.5t cranes, 1 60t heavy-lift derrick and 14.6m bow and 14.2m stern ramps. Two LCVPs are carried in davits. Can accommodate two Astralian Army NLE pontoon lighters Castor and Pollux on the hull sides.

Modernizations: 2000: - 2 x 1 - 40/60

2008: + 2 x 1 - 12.7/90 (Mini-Typhoon)

Naval service: No significant events.
