Project history: Four modified Daring class destroyers were ordered in December 1946, but work did not start until 1949, with material imported from Great Britain. In general the original layout was followed, but the after bank of TT was suppressed and 'X' turret was moved forward to allow a Limbo mortar to be mounted on the centreline. Waterhen was cancelled in 1954. As completed, Voyager was very similar to the British Daring, but Vampire and Vendetta were given two CRBF director on the centreline forward and aft of the funnel and two twin 40mm Mk 5 Bofors mountings sided.

Naval service: Voyager was sunk on 10 February 1964 in Tasman Sea in collision with aircraft carrier Melbourne and HMS Duchess was transferred from the RN on loan; she was bought outright in 1972 and paid off in 1977. Duchess and Vendetta were put on the disposal list in 1979, but in 1980 Vampire joined a new training squadron, she was paid off in August 1985. Vendetta was not stricken until January 1987.
