Project history: The design, based on the Portuguese Joao Coutinho, was ordered on 1 August 1979. Designed by Blohm & Voss, using the modular concept, these ships allow much flexibility in armament fit according to need. Whole class was built in Argentina with German assistance. First three completed without helicopter hangar. Parker was the first fitted with telescoping hangar. Armament au-eumemed by two 12.7mm MGs. It was intended to fit whole class with eight MM40 Exocet SSM instead of four MM38. Capable of operating Lynx helicopter, but were equipped with SA 319B Alouette III, later with Fennec.
Modernizations: 2009, all: + LIROD radar (2nd)
Naval service: No significant events.
