Project history: Good Hope and Transvaal were originally built for South Africa, but delivery was embargoed. They were purchased by Argentina on 25 September 1978. Drummond and Guerrico, the ex-South African units, were originally ordered for the French Navy as Lieutenant de Vaisseau le Henaff and Commandant I'Herminier.

Naval service: All three units were deployed extensively during the Falklands conflict. Guerrico supported the South Georgia operation on 3 April 1982. She was hit by Carl Gustav anti-tank rocket and heavy small arms fire. The hit was just below the Exocet launcher and the damage was modest.
